Narcissistic personality disorder and sociopaths in spiritual communities

PEERS will be hosting a Meetup about narcissistic personality disorder and sociopaths in spiritual communities on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from to People’s Co-op (3029 Southeast 21st Avenue, Portland, OR 97202, Portland, OR (map)

Tiffany Kettermann, LPC is a counselor specializing in helping people heal from narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). She also runs NPD abuse support groups.

Tiffany will talk about being a victim of NPD or a sociopath in spiritual communities, which appear to draw more of these types than other groups. This talk includes an introduction to narcissistic and sociopathic abuse, what makes us susceptible to it, our characteristics and vulnerabilities, and how trauma bonding happens (why its so hard to leave). One of the biggest barriers to healing is the lack of understanding from others, so connection with others who understand your experience is integral to healing.

This talk is geared toward people who have understanding of what narcissism and sociopathic personalities are. She will give a brief distinction between two types of narcissism, the prevalence, etc. but not an in-depth definition of all the characteristics.
